Vaibhav Sharma's 'Convocation'@ Transformations curated by Jamia Art History Students

Chandigarh and Delhi based Vaibhav Sharma presented an interesting installation titled 'Welcome to the Convocation' in the recently concluded show the Jamia Millia Islamia. Curated by the Art History Students at the Jamia Fine Arts Department, 'Convocation' became one of the catch points of the show.

In this work, in a Kosuthian way, Vaibhav brings for the idea of Convocation and the practice of 'cheating' in the examinations. Each board, which resembles the board used for supporting the answer sheets, has the 'notes' pilfered from the text books. These notes are generally used for copying answers. In these artificially created 'notes', Vaibhav writes about 5 richest persons in the world who are university dropouts- Bill Gates, Frank Lloyd Wright, Dhirubhai Ambani, Mark Zuckerberg and Jim Carrey, critical quotes by exceptional artists from Van Gogh, Roy Lichtenstein, Marcel Duchamp to Atul Dodiya, Nataraj Sharma, Bharti Kher and Anish kapoor.

The Square Group and its Land Art Interventions

A group of artists who don't want to be named individually came together to form an alternative art practicing group in Kerala. Named 'The Sqaure', this group recently did its first intervention on a hillside in Vagamon, Kerala.
